1st Republic Brewing
Biography & Highlights
Burlington's music scene gets weird once you head away from Church Street, and 1st Republic Brewing is totally where it happens. You’ll find it parked out in Essex on Lincoln Street, sharing space with light industrial buildings where you’d normally expect auto shops, not punk shows. The door guy is usually leaning against the frame checking IDs with a flashlight while a massive bass amp rattles the garage siding before anyone even steps inside.
Inside, it’s all concrete floors, exposed pipes, and picnic tables pushed back against stainless steel fermenters. It’s loud as hell because the acoustics bounce right off the corrugated metal walls. You grab a hazy IPA at the bar-served in real plastic cups-and squeeze past the merch table stacked near the restrooms. The floor is sticky with spilled cider and the whole place smells like hops and stale draft beer.
Bands set up right on the floor with no stage, so you’re standing two inches from the pedal board. When a local hardcore band drops into the first breakdown, half the crowd spills their drinks and the pendant lights start swinging from the rafters. You won’t find a coat check here, so leave your jacket in the car.
